I'm starting to get very upset. We purchased 12 Buff Orpingtons over a full month (at mininum) ago. We were promised these chicks the first week of May. Well we're still waiting on them. The woman said yesterday that we'd have them by Saturday @ the latest.... Well today she now says it got pushed back and it won't be until AROUND June 12th. I was originally under the impression that she hatched and raised them herself. I later found out that she just orders them as well. I guess I don't know if there's anything we can do necessarily. We've never raised chickens before so even this is new. It just seems like we're getting the run around. there's a family down the road (we live in the country) we noticed already has their chicks. they're i'd say @ least a month old now. Has anyone run into this problem or is there something we can do? Any advice? We've had the coop/run etc built for over a month now just waiting on the tenats.

Feeders and water containers etc. Even the feed is in an enclosed moisture tight container. If this type of thing is typical i'll try to be more patient. Thanks for the help/advice!
Anyone know of any GOOD reliable hatchery that has buff orpingtons?
Meyer Hatchery is all out.

If this woman is just ordering them you might consider cancelling with her and checking out the small order directly from the hatchery.

I know that Meyer Hatchery has a great small order program. I used them when I got my initial order. At least then you'll get a set shipping date and know exactly what to expect. Meyer has an availability chart on their website.

You can call them 888-568-9755 and they are really nice and will answer your questions. They also sell sexed buff orps if you want only pullets, or 9 pullets and 1 rooster, etc. (not that I have their catalog sitting right here on my desk or anything)

thank you very much! I will be checking them out!!!! We would only like pullets. @ least currently. For us newbies, we're only looking for eggs. Won't be eating the dear birds. I wouldn't mind one roo but i'm not telling DH that. Anyway, hopefully you said they have a website. I'll chat with DH about cancelling the order. We want our ladies!

- getting harder and harder to tell a 7 year old that they still aren't here yet.

You can also order from I-deal hatchery they did awesome with ours (not saying that it will always be that way). But there was some breeds that we couldnt find a breeder around here with so we tried a few different hatcheries and all of theirs arrived healthy and hungry

Ideal's great. We ordered 18 chicks two weeks ago to ship June 3rd, Ideal called us last week to see if we wanted to ship earlier, and they've been here since last week. All happy, all healthy, all chirping.

Someone just posted about natures hatchery I checked out their site it looks pretty interesting and they are a member here. Just saw their minimum is 2 chicks.
