Hello all! New member here :)

I live in an area that allows chickens, but only will allow a coup if it's 100 ft from all property lines. I want to work on getting the zoning laws changed and would like any help or insight.

Thanks!

Hi! Welcome to BYC, where we will give you all the encouragement we can to get chickens (and ducks, goats, more chickens...)!
Until you can get chickens, I have a plan! What is The local law on quail? If you need a license, it’s usually $15-25. Find Coturnix quail, and keep them in a guinea pig cage. Of course, you can only keep a few in there, but you get the idea.
You get eggs around two months, and they are super cute. They will give you experience, and you might be able to keep them outside since they are so quiet and tiny. I don’t want to keep chattering, so if you want more information, check out the quail threads, or ask one of us.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Definitely follow the link the @ValerieJ has left for you. Lots of members trying to change laws and that forum is a great place to start! Good luck!
