need advice

i am a new farmer and need advice on keeping hawks away from my chickens. i want to free range them on one of my small pastures that have for sheep. it has a large tree that covers almost the whole pen but i was just wondering if that would be all that i need.

You could add a few owl decoys. Hawks move on when they see that they are in an owls territory. Move the owl every few days or so. I have two of them on our property. Also having goats or such free ranging within a chicken free range area will deter raptors. My chickens free range in an acre area with no problems. Adding a rooster will also help sound the alarm when he spots overhead threats.
