Need cheap and easy ideas for a large run

I do have Aviary netting on the top to keep the hawks from getting them... I do understand that it would not work for everyone but it does work for me.

Can you tell us what kind of aviary netting you used and where you got it? I'm looking at covering multiple runs now. Here in NC, I'm hoping I don't have to worry so much about snow & ice (well,we will see how the netting will hold up to ice)...

This is what I used. Originally I didn't have enough to completely cover my pens so I bought some online but it wasn't what I thought it was and an owl went through it three times after I replaced the section it went through. I have since replaced it with some good netting. Here are some pictures I cut the netting to go around the trees and refasten it together with hog rings. Good luck...

Here is the owl going through the crappy netting after I moved the birds to another coop.

Here is the netting that I bought and it works wonderfully. I actually cut it to fit my fenced in area and used 550 cord to weave it through the fencing so it’s pretty sturdy. I have a couple of young birds that are high flyers so I have to have it to keep them in but I also wanted it to keep the hawks out.

Thank you both for posting that. When I first saw the pricing, I almost had a heart attack. Then I did some figuring - since none of my runs would be 25' wide it's actually great pricing and in the end should work for my application and be less expensive overall than other ideas. And still allow me to walk standing upright in the runs I'm building. It may change if/when we find it won't work for predator loads, but the plan isn't to leave them out in the runs at night, but in their coop/pens.

My birds all go into their coops at night. I don't shut their pop doors but have had no breaches but I also have electric wires around the coops and pens and concrete under the gates and electric wire across the bottom of the gates. The only aviary predator I have to worry about is owls at night. During the day it would be hawks and eagles. This netting I posted above is very strong. The owl attempted to go through the new piece of netting since it had gone through the crappy netting but this time got caught. DH and I managed to get it into a cage and some wildlife people came and took it.
