Need Chick Info

Our chicks are about 40 days old now ..and growing fast..
We have them in our garage in a box with the light over them...

What had them outside a few times on the warm days for about 2hours each time...

we are thinking of building a tractor /coop

any ideas for a first coop ???
when do i put them outside ???
and how long do i keep them outside???
and do they always need a heat light ???

I dont want them to freez

hello. for the light i think it all depends on the number of chicks and age. i've always had chicks from 3-4 at a time and i would leave the lamp on for about a month. then i would put them in a fairly large cage outside with an open floor so they could scratch. ofcourse i live in california and it doesn't get too cold here.

as for outside, in a closed area [coop, tractor, cage...] a few hours. say 6-8 hrs. i dont let them loose because they run fast and i dont
