Well I went to the feed store for only some chicken feed, well I came home with this poor little barred rock cockrel thats was being picked to death. He had several bloody areas, some as big as a dime. Other then the injuries he seems to be healthy, and happy to be free. it took only a matter of minutes before the little boy warmed up to me and curl up on my sholder to sleep. I think he realizes hes in a better place now...

Moving on...I have covered the boo boos in neasporin, and will keep him separate from my girls. Is there anything else I should be doing? Just want to see this boy heal up as quickly as possible.

Thanks,
Shannon

I'm so glad you took him home. That is so sad. All I know to do is put the neosporin on the wounds, which you did. I'm sure someone will come along and have better info for you. Hope he does well. Good luck to both of you.

you are fabulous!
thanks for helping this guy - he sounds like a sweet chicken.

like LMC all i know to do is put neosporin on the wounds and keep him separate. he will probably bounce back quickly now that you've rescued him from those evil hens!

good luck and keep us posted. a pic would be great too!

I think as long as he's eating and drinking, he should be fine. You may want to add Avia Charge 2000 to his drinking water; I give all my chickens AC2000 in their drinking water every other week. Stromberg's and other online places have it; it's a mineral supplement made with sea kelp.

Hi guys...just wanted to post an update on the little guy. Its amazing what 24 hours in a good home can do! He still has large boo boos, but they look 100% better, he will have feathers and wings in no time! The side effect has taken ahold though.......he has become one spoiled little peeper!! He cannot stand to be in the room alone for more then 5 seconds. I had to take my nap on the couch with him curled up next to me for anyone to get sleep in the house. Tonight ought to be intersting.

Ill post pictures just as soon as I find my camera...its been misplaced since we came home from Oklahoma. I think its in my sisters car, but until then ive been missing some great shots hehe.
