Need Dog Help Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I have been reading this post and see a lot of good advice as usual! also learning new stuff. would like to no more about the raw diet as I have 2 large dogs one with skin problems the other often has ear problems that clear quickly with alcohol and water .I dip a paper towel in the mix and clean her ears out. she also licks her feet a lot and rubs her bottom . both dogs are about 12 or 13. I have switched to a very expensive food with no corn corn wheat . helps some but not as much as I would like. He still has raw itchy spots.

UPDATE,
Thanks again for all the help. I got her into see a vet this morning, and he checked her over really good. (she only weights 65 lbs)Said No ear mites, Her ears really looked good, showed me how to put her in a muzzle and how to give her some ear drops. He told me if I was unable to handle her just bring her in and he would do the drops himself. So thanks again for a wonderful family like BYC, you are the greatest.

Glad you got things settled with your vet...

the vinegar/alcohol solution is pretty mean - i'd bite you if you tried to squirt that in my ear too!

there are products that don't sting (http://www.aaapetmart.com/2462-malaseb-flush-12-oz.html) ... but you'll still need antibiotics if there is infection (otherwise the cleaning solution is good a couple times a month for maintenance cleaning)

When I clean my gsd/lab's ears I use cotton balls - saturate the ball and squish it in her ear - it's not *as* bad as trying to get drops in and this way you can hold the ball in the ear when she goes to shake her head around

I squish it around then wipe out & repeat until any/all visible gunk is cleaned out.

I do agree with a diet change... even if it's not raw - but something w.out carbs/byproducts could go a long way for her.

Glad your vet has offered to help you! Even the best Pittie is a lot of dog to try and "harness" the muscle of

!

Hope she gets better!

Another option for a diet change are those limited ingredient dog foods. I use Nutro Herring and Sweet Potato meal. It has no corn and limited ingredients. I have a Cocker Spaniel who used to have ear problems and a rotating stomach problem but once I shifted to the fish and sweet potato, the problems decreased.
