I have never hatched ducks before and they are hatching now. The thing is I forgot antibiotics for their water like I gave the chicks. Do ducks need antibiotics? Please someone help me.

I just had a call duck pop out of its egg about 30 min ago.
What kind are you hatching?

Congrats on your hatch. Agreed that you don't add antibiotics to ducklings water. You shouldn't have to add anything to their water as you are hatching them yourself and there is no stress from shipping. Enjoy your newest fuzzy butt and be sure to add pics.

I will post pictures after we get her to the brooder (that is if I can figure out how to post). I have no idea what kind of ducks they will be. I do have 2 mallards but not sure what the 3 duck is.

Ok, I am slightly bothered as I turned them last night and put them on lockdown and no the poor baby looks like she is positioned wrong. The shell is totally in half but she also is like in half. Will she be ok?

Just hatched two ducklings last night. One of them did need some help. It pecked open the top, but was unable to come out. It sat there like it for over 12 hours. I discovered that it was a little bit shrink wrapped so I had to help. I removed more of the shell and peeled some of the wrapping away. 10 minutes later it was out. You may have to help too. Stop if you see blood using out. Put it back into the bator and try later, if needed.

The duckling is in the brooder with my 5 day old chicks. A chick has taken a special liking to her. I am afraid the duck is going to think she is a chick.
