Need educated help please!

Ok so we have 25-30 laying hens. 5 are 4years old the rest are 1 1/2 years old. All but the original 5 have bad respiratory issues. Gargling, sneezing etc. I lost two but the AG department is closed till Monday. normally Tylan 50 would be my best friend but I can’t find it ANYWHERE!! I have baytril powder for water but I want to give something orally so I know they got it. I was recommended tetracycline but I didn’t think that stuff was very strong. Any suggestions for oral dosing. Also if I go with tetracycline any recommendations on dosing the injectable orally?

Antibiotics will only help if it is a bacterial illness, such as MG or coryza. If Tylan has helped in the past, it may be MG or mycoplasma problem, which can be chronic and make the whole flock carriers. Baytril can treat MG, but it is banned for chickens sue to creating antibiotic resistance, although some vets will still prescribe it for certain infections that other antibiotics do not treat. MG can be treated with it, but it requires a long egg withdrawal. If you post what you have we might be able to get dosage. Oxytetracycline dosage is 5 mg per pound twice a day orally.

Sorry. I should have clarified. This is the first time this has occurred. I have never dose them with any antibiotics whatsoever. I Was just saying that Tylan 50 would be my first choice But it is impossible to find. I have some tetracycline injectable as well as the trail powder but I did not want to use the petro powder because I wanted to do something more direct
