need eggs

I just bought a hovabator and I am trying to do this with my kids as a science project. My question is where is the best place to get fresh fertile eggs? and if I buy from anyone one on this board, how long will it take to receive the eggs? I live in Los Angeles area. I wanted to visit one of the farms near by, but I could not find any. Thank you,

First off, WELCOME TO BYC!!

There are some excellent breeders here who pack eggs well and who have beautiful birds.

bargain (Nancy) does a good job with her chickens, packing etc... she has a good variety, leghorn, speckled sussex and others.

pasofinofarm has GC Marans, Salmon Faveroles and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas

Dipsy Doodle Doo has a good variety but I got her Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucanas.

pips&peeps has some wonderful pure bred Ameraucanas

There are MANY, MANY other wonderful breeders and sellers of eggs, the above are the ones I have dealt with and had success..

I got eggs from Dipsy Doodle Doo in like two days (she's in South Carolina) I'm hatching her eggs at present and will be posting pics soon.

Try craigslist also...Post notice at local feed stores or farm stores..
