I used to have a flock if 20 standard sized Cochins. Throughout the spring and summer last year, 11 of them went broody (not all at the same time, thank goodness. The most I had at one time was 6, but still!!!!!). They were great setters and even better mommas. At one point during the broody chaos, I had two girls sharing the same brooder box. I gave them a dozen eggs each and left them to their business. When the eggs started to hatch, one of the hens freaked and abandoned her nest. Not to fear! The other broody took those eggs and ended up with 20 chicks, which she warmed and cared for all by herself *AND* she started laying just 2 weeks after her chicks hatched! Can you imagine trying to lay an egg with 20 kids running under and jumping on you? Sheesh! You should really go to the Breeds, Genetics and Showing section and check out the Cochin thread, its great. There also alot of Cochins in the Good Old Fashioned Broody thread (in this section). I'm hoping for a broody myself (I have Silkies now

), I REALLY want some fluffies but I don't want to have to deal with my 'bator at the moment

. Fingers crossed for both of us! Good luck!
