need help asap, hen's bottom split open

Found one of my hens like this this morning. She has had a swollen bum for months, comes and goes. Looks like it finally split. What should I do for her? Is there anything to be done. She's in distress, running constantly. It's not the vent, but a split.

I'm thinking it could have been a hernia. Hernias can rupture at some point due to excessive pressure, or getting caught on something.

I agree entirely. That would require immediate surgery to repair and depending on the cause might not be successful anyway. I think euthanasia would be the kindest thing you could do. I'm so sorry.
