My two muscovy hens hatched out about 23-24 babies the first two days they mothered together. Yesterday my one mamas face was bleeding and she literally jumped out of the coop (its about 3.5 ft off the ground with a ramp in and out of it) to get away from the other. I have them seperated right now. Oreo has all the babies and mama is all alone. I dont know if its because they ran out of food and water while I went grocery shopping or what.

Id really rather Mama care for the babies then Oreo. Mama is very protective but also very nurturing. My question is should I take half the babies (if I can get them from Oreo) and give them to Mama or should I take all the babies from Oreo and give them to Mama. I have pens to keep them seperate but will have to net the tops because Mama has been flying over fence to get to the coop I have Oreo and babies locked in. How long will it take for a mother to get over her babies being taken away?

I would give mama most and leave oreo 4 or 5 ducklings. As long as you can keep em seperate they should be fine.

Either split them in half so everyone is happy and that way it will be easier to raise the babies, or just give them all to MAMA of course! Like it's their MAMA you know! Poor mama!
