Need help choosing a breed

I have been studying different breeds and can't decide on the best one for me! I love my mixed flock, but would love to raise one of the rare breeds.

I live in Alabama, and have over 47 acres of pasture. Our weather is really hot and humid in the summer, and we have quite a few below freezing winter days too. So, combs can freeze in winter. I would prefer a mild tempered breed that is good foragers. I would prefer something that lays large or medium eggs (no egg color preference). I want hens that become broody and can raise their own chicks. So, with that in mind what do you guys think would be my perfect chicken breed?

Thanks, this was great! The BYC selector showed RRI and Wyndottes. Are there any breeds of Wyndottes that are endangered? I thought both of these breeds were very common in backyard flocks.
