I have about 20 button quail chicks and need some help choosing colors for trios

Hens: black tuxedo, silver tuxedo, cinn/red breasted morph, silvers, red breasted, blue breasted

roos: blue breasted, silver

unknowns: silver, blue/red breasted, silver tuxedo, possibly white

I would like to produce cinnamon and black tuxedos. Does anyone know the best pairing/trio to produce them????

It will take generations of select breeding to get uniform colors from pairs as these poor little guys have been cross bred for years. I would pair like colors, silver with silver etc., and be sure you mark the eggs to see how true to color the chicks are.
I don't like trio s but its your call on that, although it will be harder to tell which hen is producing what color chick.
good luck.

it is fairly simple to introduce a new male or female if one dies. just place them in separate cages next to each other at lease over night then move the decor in the regular cage/home around and bring in the new bird. watch them for a few days to be sure they are getting along but they should do fine.

and a few days alone wont kill them some even have just one as a pet...

No it is true but if one dies, just like in humans, the other will find a new mate. They will also mate with lots of partners if captive, but in the wild they are just pairs!

Yes, male quail with mate with whatever comes along. No worries there. The quail we keep are far from wild. Lol!
