I currently have 4 EE bantam pullets. 1 just started laying and the other 3 are about 10 weeks old.
I would like to have 6 laying chickens so I am debating on picking up a couple of silkies or easter eggers (normal not bantams). I can't get EE bantams without ordering minimum of 5 straight run and I don't want to raise chicks again to find out half are roosters again or have more pullets than I have space. So currently looking on craigslist so I can get just 2.

I prefer colored eggs and bantam sized chickens. I prefer bantam just because they are smaller, seem to be less maintenace (less poop, smaller poop, eat less food).

I am looking at 14week old white silkies or 9 week old EEs.

My concern with the silkies is I read they don't roost the same or need a lower roost than other chickens. That sometimes they just sleep on the floor? I don't want them sleeping below my EEs. Their feathered feet can get dirty. Also they sometimes need the hair trimmed around their eyes to see better (not required but I hear it helps a lot with their awareness)

My concern with normal sized EE is that they may bully the bantams maybe? And bigger poops. I would need to change out the screen bottom I have on the coop to allow them to fall through. Not a hard task for me though.

Why are chickens so addicting? I'm trying to make this decision in the next few hours lol.

I've been reading that. I am leaning towards the EE pullets. They have the colored eggs I prefer and will be larger than the bantam eggs too. Plus it sounds like the normal sized EEs aren't as big as some of the other large fowl breed chickens.

EEs are any size it depends on the cross to create them..

I picked the two EEs up tonight! He brought the 3 he had and I picked 2 out. One of them was about the size of my 3 bantam EEs. Also I said earlier mine were 10 weeks, but they are actually the same age as the two I got tonight. The other one is noticeably bigger. So either the one is a runt or younger than he said. I will upload some pics tomorrow but not sure if I should here or start a thread on the identify my chickens forum?
