One week ago I bought 2 Peking and 3 Indian Runner ducklings. When I got them I saw that one had a closed eye (a little gunky, not too bad though) I thought I could just wash it with warm water, you know. I couldnt bring myself to leave it (they were special order) my son would have been heart broken, and I knew the duckling would have gotten tossed into a trash can... so I was a sucker and took him along wiht the others. I have been treating it with saline and eye antibiotic cream and its still gross and his eye ball looks freaky now. White like a dead eye and swollen around the eye socket. Now tonight another one has it!! OMG what have I gotten myself into?
Does this eye problem sound familiar? What would you do? I do not want to risk all of them for the sake of one/two and I know I should have left that little guy at the store, but its done now. (PS: They are all eating and drinking and acting totally happy and healthy, even Goober Eye.)
Help!

Can I ask you... when I hit IMG do I paste a URL in between the two
to a pic on photobuckt?
Never posted a pic here before, but I certainly will if I can figure it out.

I save the photo to my desktop or you can upload it from your pictures. After it is uploaded I copy the img and paste it into my message. I hope that makes sense.

Click on the bottom link. No don't add anything to it (like IMG). Just click the bottom link, click "copy" then paste onto your post. Could be a fungal infection? Maybe try to find some antifungal eye meds. My horse lost an eye because the vet didn't consider possible fungus. If antibiotics aren't working then fungus MUST be considered. Just think, my horse would still have her right eye.

I have used Penicillin, Tylan, Oxytetracycline, Baytril and Cephalexin on them. There are others too that are safe for ducks. Chloramphenicol eye ointment would be best for an eye infection.

They just had a bath so some of that "wet look" is actually bath residue.
But you can see how horrible that one eye is.
Poor guy....
