Hello,
I have a two day old heifer beef calf who is so sick, she has scours and is very dehydrated, she is still holding her head up and I want to try and give her some electrolytes, I used to have a homemade recipie but do not remember it. Please does anyone have one to share, Thankyou so much for any help!

I had this recipe saved on my computer in case I ever need it but I havent yet so I dont know how good it works as compared to pedialite.
Home Made Pedialyte

This is a GREAT alternative to the Pedialyte ( a liquid hydration solution) they sell in the store, same content just alot more frugal.

Ingredients:
2 Quarts Water (pennies)
1 teaspoon baking soda (pennies)
1 teaspoon salt (pennies)
7 tablespoons sugar (pennies)
1 packet sugar-free Kool-Aid* (.75)
1/2 teaspoon salt substitute* (pennies)

*optional but gives flavor

Directions:
Mix all together well and store in refrigerator for no more than 3 days. You can also freeze this into ice cubes to put into child's cup or bottle. You can also make Popsicles from it. Tape this inside a kitchen cabinet door for easy reference. There's nothing worse than a sick kid in the middle of the night and you know that you have this recipe but can't find it and/or the stores are closed!
