The title says it all (PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP IT CIVIL) but Ill explain further. I got two cats from a friend who along with her 2 cats having babies had the feral she-cat they feed have 3 kits under a wood pallet in their yard (sopposedly 2 girls and a boy). I took the two girls and I really didnt plan on spaying them (I have plenty of friends who will take the kittens. Please dont yell at me for that. At least I have homes planned) well as they got older looks like Gem my favorite has developed male genitals

. Well since I dont want him to breed his sister Jewel I need to A. Change his name to Jem instead of Gem

(Get it? Gem and Jewel?) LOL and I need to get him neutered. Well to be honest im short of cash and according to the friend it costs $150 a cat. I was wondering if anyone knows a really cheap vet, or one who does payments, in ABQ NM. Though I have also heard that if you tell certain pet groups that you are short of cash they will fix the cats for free. Anyone heard this and if so who do I call and what information do they need?

contact the local aspca or humane society. you could also check if there is a low cost spay/neuter clinic in your area. If you shop around, you should be able to find a vet who does neuters for less than $150. That seems high for a neuter.

$150 sounds really steep for a male cat. Call 1-800-USA-SPAY and get them to tell you your nearest participating vet, and they will mail you a voucher for a discount spay/neuter.

With vouchers, we neutered our cat for around $35 and spayed our female dog for about $50, but every vet's level of participation is different.

I hate yahoo and google...I always use dogpile. I think it pulls up more relevant stuff.

I know things are higher out west than back here, but gee whiz... $150 for a neuter is outrageous

... here it's anywhere from $65-80 depending on which shots are included.

That is completely absurd for a male cat, your friend is wrong. New Mexico also has several spay and neuter vans that travel the whole state offering discounted services, $15 for cats and $25 for dogs. I just had 3 female cats spayed for $15 each. Call the ASPCA in Albq. and ask about the van and also the financial help that is available through gov't. and state gov't. agencies. They area really pushing for spay and neuters.

Thank you guys SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This REALLY helps me. $15 dang O_O

ETA: WriterofWords by any chance do you know whats the ASPCA's number?
