need help finding good perches and roosts

I built mine out of CHEAP landscaping timbers. They love the large suface.

Notice to the left I added a small latter board to help them reach the first timber. Also this latter is fastened to the bottom timber and the wall to save floor space.

Lowe's or Home Depot can be a good source. A lot of people use 2x4's with the edges rounded off for roosts. If you live where frostbite is a concern, you can put the 2x4's flat and the chickens feathers will cover their feet when they roost. If you live where you have hot humid nights, you can turn them narrow side up to help keep the chickens cooler. Or if you have both, do either. The chickens will do fine either way.

I have some 2"x4" roost in parts of my coop's, but what I really like to use are large older pieces of driftwood hung or nailed in place. They really add a nice natural touch to the look of the coops and the birds really preper them over the 2x4's.
