you mentioned the white specks that are half the size of a grain of rice. That can be a sign of tapeworm and if you use the same grow out pen its very possible. The only way to know for sure is to have a vet test a sample, some vets would examine a sample for you even if they arent chicken vets. So you might call some of your local vets.... Good Luck!!!!
