Hi there, I have NEVER ran in to this problem so I have no idea what causes it, here we go.... I hatched about 8 silkies (they aren't from my girls, they were shipped) Had a WONDERFUL hatch but noticed about 3-4 of them have white tiped toes (on the very tip there is a small amount of white or should I say "normal" chicken skin color, not the normal black silkies have) Does anyone know why ? And is this a defect ? or will it darken as they get older ?? Should I ask for replacement eggs or just let it be ?

Thanks for any info !!

If just the tips of the toes are pink, then they should darken as the bird matures. If the whole foot is pink, then then likely not.

yes it's just the tips !!! Hoping they will darken !! Do you have any idea what causes this ? And is it a defect?

I had a few that had that from Ideal. I ordered a few Lavender silkies and they all had 2 toned toes. I have 2 lavenders and one has a little pink left and the second one turned black. So it will darken as it gets older. I also hatched out 8 weeks ago, white, black and splash silkies and 2 of the 4 have the same thing. I thought it was just the Lavenders. They are darkening also, so I guess its nothing to worry about.
