OK so my G?F has loved the chickens (6-comets) and they have been free ranging,
BUT
Last week she totally lost it, Ive been off my feet with a diabetic hole in my foot, so i haven't been able to keep the deck and steps cleaned off,,
see where this is leading?
Me and the chickens are in BIG DOODO

I know its probably asking a lot,
BUT is there a way to keep chickens AWAY from a deck and steps up to the front door,

all summer she though it was soooooo cute when they came up to the door and looked in,,
now its not so cute,,,

she wants me to cage them up,,GASP,,,NOOOOOOOO if i can't find a way to keep them off the deck and steps,
and building a fence around the deck is NOT an option,,Grrrrrrrr

I need help
serious help
or ill be living in the chicken coop with the birds,,
(the dogs are already eyeing my pillow)

cheers
John

Either fence away from where you don't want them(often difficult, highly inconvenient and usually ineffective)
or keep them penned.

Depending on the design of your deck, and any snow issues you might have in your area (helpful to put your general location in your profile), you could put up some deer fencing around the perimeter of your deck. It's black plastic mesh, and fine enough that it's not visually obstructive... so much so that the chickens will bounce off it a few times, and never consider that flying over it is an option. I surround my garden with it. Cut a 7' high roll in half with scissors. 3.5' keeps chickens out, and can easily be stepped over. Take care of that foot, get it healed up well. I'm a certified member of the Diabetic police squad. If you don't believe me, just ask my hubby! Keeping those sugars under control??? I do like the sprinkler idea, sounds highly entertaining.
