Hi everyone! I've been a long-time fan of this forum and it has helped me on many occasions in the past, but I finally had the excuse to join today with the hope that someone would be able to enlighten me on gapeworm recovery. I have 12 month old chicks (3 favs, 3 brahmas, 1 welsummer, 3 pekins, 1 silkie and 1 unknown/mix!).I noticed signs of respiratory problems with one of them on monday and went to vet on wednesday and gave all of them the prescribed medication yesterday. I was just wondering how long recovery should take after treatment? I don't know the name of the medication (it was a white liquid that i fed them directly with a syringe). Should they still be showing signs of infection for a few days after treatment? Also I have checked some of their poop and have found red vein-like things in some of it. Is that the worm? Their poo is also red from some other substance which i'm hoping isn't blood. Sorry for the long post but I'm a born worrier! If pics or more details are needed just let me know!
UPDATE: Some seem to be showing signs of worsening now
