Justusnak is well enough to send me my little chickens now. Hip hip hooray! But I need to put them on vitamins (polyvisol) and electrolytes. Can someone please tell me what to get for the electrolytes? I mean , I know gatorade but what is the real thing? Thanks so much for all the rescue work Deb did this summer on all those poor little chickens! God Bless Her!

Carrie,
Do you have a Rural King near you? I bought Poultry Electrolytes from Rural King called Merrick's Blue Ribbon Poultry Electolyte Pack. It was a 4 oz package that gives mixing directions on the back. If you don't have a Rural King near by, maybe the local feed store will carry it. Hope this helps.

thank you very much. I will ask at the feed store, sorry, I have never heard of a Rural King.

If all else fails I guess I can use Gatorade.

Rural King is a big tractor, farm supply store. Let me know if you can't find it at your local feed store and I could drop you a pack in the mail if you wanted me to. How close are you to St. Louis, Mo? I live right over the river from there in Il. I bet gatoraid would be ok. This poultry electrolyte pack has electrolytes, nutrients and direct-fed microbials. Good luck!

HERE IS A SEGMENT FROM MY WEBSITE on three products I have bought.

8 ounce packet of Vitamins & Electrolytes I put 1/4 teaspoon per quart in my waters.
I have also used Gatorade and Pedealite when I thought a chick/adult was in need of it.

I luv the electroyte/nutritional gel product the hatcheries sell (forget the name but it is a gel that swells up when you add water to it and has concentrated nutrition/vitamins with it ... it is green which according to research will encourage the birds to pek at it)

thanks to all of you for your help and wonderful offers. I will be receiving these small birds on Thurs. and I am sure I can find what I need from local feed store. We are close to springfield, MO so I am sure I can get some there if all else fails. The pics of the products are very helpful. Thank you very, very much all of you.

We use the Durvet in the yellow pkg that Melanie showed. Most feed stores carry that. If they don't have it on the shelf, ask if they have it. They usually do. Good luck with your new chickens.

Good luck with your new babies! What kind of breeds will you be receiving and how many? That is so exciting! Hope you post pictures. I already have the fever to add to my flock.

We don't live to far from each other. I'm very close to St. Louis, Mo. I know Springfield, Mo is over a 2 hr drive from me. It's not super close, but not extremely far.

If you can't find the electolytes just let me know and I won't mind popping a package in the mail to you.

Keep us posted on your new flock.

thanks guys, Justusnak has two or three threads in this same forum. She rescued some severly damaged chickens about the first part of Oct. She posted a thread asking for help;
https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/post.php?tid=21671
here is the first link. You will see pics of these poor chickens there and the horror of what justusnak went through. She lovingly nursed these babies back to where they were able to be placed into new homes. As soon as they arrive, tomorrow, and I get them settled into their own private coop I will post pics of them. Justusnak has been unbelievable through all of this. I believe the hateful chicken woman is about to give her twenty more birds that will be in the same desparate situation. Please be forewarned that the pics on the above link are graphic but need to be seen.
Anyway, I am getting three of them tomorrow morning. Silkie mixes I believe they are. All help is welcomed.
