Hello again! I just got 3 new ducks on Saturday; was checking over their feet and nails earlier, and I noticed they have some bumps / scales sticking out and am wondering if anyone could identify what it is ?

It doesn't appear to be bumblefoot and they aren't acting hurt/ in pain, so I'm not sure if I should be pulling at anything or which way to treat it first..
I gave them a regular swim & sprayed veterycin on their feet for the moment but yeah

I appreciate any help or comments! Thanks in advance ^^

p.s (sorry for yapping) these pictures were taken right before we trimmed their nails a little and noticed a couple of them are missing back toenails as well but those don't seem to be a problem. Also, they were hatched this year just to add some extra backstory about these little ladies!

How odd! My first thought was bumble foot. I'm not a duck keeper though, so hopefully someone with experience with ducks will respond.

When you say it looks scaley, does it look like skin teeth/pointy scales growing out into bumps in those areas?

I also thought my ducks might have bumblefoot and noticed bumps like that. Looked like black bumps until after soaking with epsom salts and cleaning with a soft brush but turned out to be growth like a wart, apparently can grow on feet due to some virus like papilloma virus. It looked different from your photos so might not be the same thing but it is hard to tell without seeing it for real.

For comparison, this was my duck's foot. Does it look anything like this for yours?

Hello! For the most part i don't think any of mine look too similar. They don't have spots that look like 1, 2, and 4 for sure--Most of their bumps look like thick callouses that have dirt stuck around them/ in the cracks

Although, on some of their toes closest to the nail they do have some pointer scales protruding outward similar to the #3 on your picture but i'm not 100% certain yet.

They also each have a small cut on the non-bumpy parts of their feet that i'm waiting to heal before doing an epsom soak, so I'm not sure what else I can do for them in the meantime

I attached a few other pictures to try and highlight the weird shape some of the scabs have as well as a scab that looks like it could be peeled off with a soak?

I agree it looks different with the close up pics now, and the third one looks like it could come off, but looks more like dried gunk than anything else.
I think the soaking can't hurt so i'd still try that. My photo is from after a thorough cleaning cause it looked like dark/dirt/mud buildup initially too. It does look like a kind of growth to me though, or maybe pressure sores?
Is asking a vet an option?

I'm far from being an expert so hopefully more folks can chime in with other ideas.
