This growth is on a 1-1/2 year old Buff Oprington hen’s foot. It is smooth brown and looks like it is an impacted bump that can almost me popped off. I have been soaking in epsom salt, wrapping with a gauze soaked in Vetericyn Plus and covered with stretch tape. Today it was softening enough to scape a small amount off. Does anybody know if this is bumble foot or an impacted mass that I can eventually scape off. Should I be doing anything else to treat the foot? The photo is blurred, so I will post more photos when I soak her foot again tonight.

It looks like bumblefoot for sure. You'll need to pull the black scab off, and press out any puss that is inside the wound. Then disinfect it, and you can wrap it with some gauze.

I pulled the brown mass off of her foot this morning. It came off fairly easy with only a drop of blood. Surprised to see a hard rice shaped core that was lodged within her foot that came with it. Soaked her foot in epsom salt again, disinfected with hydrogen peroxide and wrapped it in gauze and elastic tape. Noticed her foot was pinker and warmer than her other foot. Now, I’m concerned she has an infection. Vet wants $91 for an office visit, so I’m trying to find another option for an antibiotic. Any ideas?
