Need help identifying breed

That’s what I was thinking, but I think it looks more exchequer than mottled. Just not sure the breed. I know nothing about Javas.

You are right about that. I only had one mottled java and it started out mostly black. Most mottled breeds do. I actually think it's a mix, especially after thinking about that.

Some juvenile molts are much more erratic. They will have white wings and stuff.
