As for the lime green poop, if you post pics of that, some of our Educators may be able to advise you. I have heard that it can indicate starvation, which may have been caused by the blood-sucking mites. I'm so sorry. If you need the help of an Educator, put an @ symbol before their name with no space between the @ and the name like this: Some of our best are:

I hope you get your pests under control before you suffer any other losses, and I am sorry for the hen you lost. Courage!

I just read you other thread and a moderator must have removed the mean spirited comments from others. Sorry about people being rude, but it should always be reported when it happens. Thanks for posting the pictures and doing research on the mites. The Elector PSP is supposed to be very good, and I have used Permethrin 10 concentrate mixed with water at 5 ml per quart of water in a spray bottle or garden sprayer to treat lice. It works on mites as well, and lasts in treating a coop, nests, a roosts for a month. Mite eggs hatch every 5-7 days to check them to make sure if they need to be retreated.

The post I was referring to wasn't my post, it was another one where I was trying to help someone with a rooster problem. So many people are so quick to tell someone to cull their rooster when its more than likely just hormones and rooberty, not an aggressive rooster. I've had both, and I will cull an aggressive rooster, but I don't know that this poster had an aggressive rooster without asking questions lol. Obviously the poster wanted help and not to cull their rooster (which is why they were here), and a couple people just didn't agree with my advice or experiences I shared with the poster. I have a bachelor flock of 5 and I've patiently gotten where I am with all 5 of them and their temperaments. To each their own, but don't tell people they shouldn't own chickens just because they don't do things the same as you, ya know!
I've hidden those people, thats water under the bridge now. I still LOVE this page, that just reminded me that everyone can take something good and twist it, so I try to be way more detailed!

Update on mite situation:
I didn't get a picture of the stool on the chicken I lost last month. I'm normally pretty good about that, but didn't think it would be the last poop I ever saw from her. She just declined very very quickly, I believe she had something else going on internally that was just too late by the time she slowed down.

We had very rainy weekends it seemed the whole month of June. Treating 35 chickens spread out in 3 different pens (Hen pen, bachelor flock, and bantam pen) just wasn't doable during the week so I filled a sock with permethrin dust and dusted them about once a week to keep the bugs somewhat controlled. I did go ahead and spray one of my girls 2 weeks ago, because she was starting to act stand offish. I used permethrin spray, and gave her some B complex gel and she was fine the next day.

Last Saturday on July 5 we FINALLY had a clear weekend where I could get everyone out of the coops and runs to spray everything down and dip everyone. I ended up ordering some Elector, and then opted for the permethrin anyway, just for the sole fact that I've read Elector may or may not treat this species of mites.
I checked feathers under the scope all last week and did not see any live bugs at all, until yesterday- which was day 8 from first treatment and coincides with the life cycle of the mites. I only saw a couple of larva and nymphs.
I am off of work Thursday for a funeral so I plan to do their 2nd dip to get whats hatched before they become adults and lay more eggs. That will be day 12 from first dip.
