Need help identifying chicks from TSC

I bought what I was told was a RIR from my feed store , now I believe it is a production red. She looks exactly like your chicks . What are the main differences between the production red and the RIR ?

My pictures didn't post very good but it hardly has a comb and it hasn't turned color unlike one of my others

That's what they are calling production reds in most farm stores. I read several threads on here explaining the difference, and for my newbie mind it was a bit overwhelming. Evidently the REAL RIR's are not easy to find these days b/c they have been bred more for production by crossing in other breeds. Most feed stores do not have RIR's, they have production reds and are calling them that. They will be lighter in color and won't have the breed characteristics that a RIR is supposed to have. To find those breed characteristics, you have to look back at old documentation. If you search old threads, it explains it a lot better than me! LOL But I wondered the same thing and started looking back at old threads. For the record, I did order 2 pullets from Murray McMurray and I will be interested to see if they wind up looking like a RIR or this other type of red. Regardless, I'm okay with what I have because ultimately I did buy them for production purposes. I do find all the info very interesting though.
