Need help identifying rescued bird/chicken !

A friend found this bird on the road last night. I think it looks like a chicken. He thought it could be some kind of wild bird like a quail or pheasant. The bird has had most the feathers pecked from it back and has a large scab on the back of its head. It is eating good and looks happy but a little lonely. I would like to know if it is a chicken, what kind it is, how old it looks and if you think it is a hen or rooster. I am keeping it in my chicken coop. I lost my 4 hens about a two month ago to a weasel. Any info would be great.

Looks like a chicken to me. I have an Easter egger that looks almost just like it.

And....I'm guessing the missing feathers are more from getting her big girl feathers in. A couple of my babies are looking pretty shabby right now.

Thank you everyone for the info. He/she is doing well. Just hate that's she is all alone. Think I'm going to look for a new home soon.
