Some a**hole dumped this chicken at a local fishing spot/popular animal dump. Someone my wife knows posted on fb that they were down there and saw this chicken hopping around. It has one injured foot, but is eating and seems to be otherwise healthy. We have 4 other chickens and are keeping her separated from them until we see what happens with her foot. In the meantime, is this a Golden Sex Link? Something else?

Are there egg farms around? Maybe she escaped one of the hen houses. A farm sanctuary that I volunteer at rescued a bunch of "spent" leghorns that were about to be gassed. As they were leaving the farm, someone spotted a red sex link that had escaped from another building where they were being gassed. They scooped her up and brought her along to the sanctuary - lucky girl! Dubbing and debeaking are pretty standard in the factory farm system - as well as foot injuries. When I was performing health checks on the leghorns, you wouldn't believe how many of them were missing one or more of their toes from being caught in the wire cages. It was so sad. Be sure to check her over really well for lice, too - the birds we rescued were all heavily infested. I hope your bird does well and you are able to keep her. Good luck.
