We bought what we thought to be 10 pullets the first week of April. We now are wondering if we have 5 roosters. We are also unsure of the breeds.
The white speckled hen and black with gold we feel sure are hens but don't know the breeds
The others -2 buff orpingtons, red comet? And Rhode Island Red? We are worried are roosters. We have a barred rock that is definitely crowing

Welcome to BYC!

Look at the two dark red ones.
Do you see the pointy feathers around their necks and at the base of their tails/on the lower back?
Those are male.
Do you notice any others with these pointy feathers?

Thank you
The bigger one with the dark feathers is my favorite. Ellie.....
That's what we were afraid of!

They are all so different, it's hard to tell

Well depending on the age, the coloring looks like a RSL which means it would be a pullet and if @rucker if they truly are around 4-5 months they are at the maturing age. So now since they are 4-5 months I'm not so sure #2 being a cockerel.
