I posted earlier that I thought it was heat, but now I'm not so sure. My 1 y.o hen Ming Ming is very lethargic acting, doesn't move not really eating, drank a little but just not moving. I thought maybe mites, but not convinced. I checked her back side/ vent area and no tell tale signs, just a little dirty. No swelling , not red. But reason I though she might be egg bound is that her vent kept poking in and out. You can also tell that it was poking in and out when she was standing there alone. Movement in the feathers back there. Would that movement be normal if I was looking for mites in that area or what? Can someone please tell me the cliffnotes to "How to tell if you have an eggbound hen for Dummies" book. I know I need to get her to a bath, if so but not sure if she is. Please help. I dont' want to lose her. She's been acting like this all day.

is she sitting in a nest box?
could she just be broody?

the vent movement is normal.

if you are worried she is eggbound..try sitting on her on a warm towel in a dim quiet place..
the heat from the towel will help relax her muscles.
some sit them in warm water..

I'm just kidding....I think you ment "try sitting her on a warm towel"......

I hope she is doing better s6bee!!!

I'll pass on sitting on her, but she is better today....
Not 100% thought. She's up ( not broody at all ) and eating some. I will put her back with the flock since it seems that's where she wants to be. I've wormed her as I will the rest with Pumpkin seeds. I usually do the Apple cider vinegar route but maybe they needed more.
I don't feel any hardness to her belly area. Not sure what her problem is.
Thanks for the help
