Thanks everyone!
I ended up putting welded fencing in front of chicken wire (on top of the chicken wire effectively). I used two 48inch sections and the overlap on the melded fence wire is so rigid that I am not at all worried about something climbing up 4 feet to get under the topsection. I also used stainless (instead of galvinzied) staples every 2 inches on the sides, and almost every inch on the top and bottom.
I will post pictures when it's up and running - 3 more posts to cement in, one more 10 foot run wall to stand up (already built), and one more to construct with the door.
Finished - the run will be 10 x 20 and attached to the coop (using the combo of chicken wire and welded fence wire for the run walls) with 1/4 inch hardware cloth around the coop bottom and laid out for 24 inches on the ground to discourage diggers so that the girls can spend as much time as they'd like underneath the coop. We have 10 acres that they can free range on a couple of hours a day - but when that's not possible they should have plenty of space in the coop and run.
