My 2 yr old Delaware got fly strike last year, and it was bad! But I saved her and she recovered. In that year her feathers never grew back. It’s below the vent at the abdomen. Since no feathers grew there, the skin became very thin and Was always red in color.
As of yesterday one of my other chickens pecked at it and now the flesh is exposed and apiece is hanging out.
I separated her ASAP.
I cleaned it with vetericyn spray and then sprayed blue-kote. I just don’t know how to put pressure on it to keep it from hanging out. I was thinking To put some Tagaderm On it.
Any ideas??
Thank you

Please keep her separated, and put something sticky on it to keep flys away.
Use niesporin, bag balm, or corona or something similar. These heal and keep wounds moist. Fly strike is possible with blue kote as it dries.
Your hen should grow back her feathers. Maybe at next molt.

As long as it's not actively bleeding, I wouldn't be totally concerned about wrapping it. That's a hard area for a bandage. Do you have a picture?
