Hello everyone, brand new to chickens and ducks and have received alot of inaccurate info from tractor supply. Our flock is 10 weeks old 1 khaki Campbell and one Pekin. Also 3 chicken we have no idea what kind. We have been feeding flock raiser with niacin supplement. Need some help with what they should be eating as far as feed and fresh...thank you so much in advance for your help. Any advice for newbies is also greatly appreciated 😃

I give my ducks all kinds of goodies
If you cut a watermelon , cantaloupe or honeydew in half remove the seeds and let them eat it
I give scrambled eggs , a spring mix of greens , tomatoes , handful of cat food, dried mealworms , (cooked rice and pasta as a treat every now and then )
Peas , cooked corn , grapes I cut into 1/4 When small then 1/2 when adult size and when I need to give medicine I pull out the inside of the grape and add the medicine. Worked like a charm as my ducks love grapes
Just make sure these are treat size and that they are still eating pellets as their main meals
Lots of things ducks love but giving these treats you need to put a separate Bowl of grit ( chick or silicon grit ) out to help them digest it. They will eat it as they need it
@DuckyDonna @Miss Lydia
Can you add to the list of yummy safe duck treats

My advice is to spend lots of time with those littles because they will grow up so fast! Also, no matter how much you try to bond with them, some birds will love you and others will just tolerate you because you serve their meals.

My ducks and chickens (as well as my geese) LOVE grapes, and I've always given my ducklings frozen peas -- which are loaded with niacin. Watching them bob for peas in a baby pool is great entertainment.

Congratulations on joining BYC; there are a gazillion differing opinions here, but a ton more accurate information than you are likely to get at TSC, where the goal is selling poultry and supplies.

Welcome to our flock; we'll be happy to help steer you in the right direction.

Hi and welcome to BYC! You got a lot of good advice about what treats to give from @New duck mommy 2021. There are a lot of websites that I have found which suggest all the treats and I'll add some here.

I don't take the seeds out of melons, they love them and it's the first thing they go for. (Some seeds are bad for them like apple seeds so you have to be careful.) I used to cut melons up nice and small and then take the skin off but now I just take a big knife, slice it in half, and put it on the ground for them. On the softer melons, they will eat the skin and all. They eat right down to the hard green skin on watermelons. They demolish melons in no time flat!

There are some things that are really bad for them that you need to know about too. These websites I've listed have information about them also.
