need help priceing adult ducks for bad dog owners!

you could also consider the price per lb you'd pay at the grocery store for a whole duck... I think it would be more then buying one live... if you wanted more money lol

played with the idea but really this isnt about money. i want him to fix what he did and relize that we dont have pets just for fun there is work to it. want i want compensation for my fence and loss and hopfully the money will make things a little tight and uncomfterable.
i dont think he should get off scott free and our vet bill for 1 duck is at 1700.00 right now.
i am going to go see if his dog is still at the house and if it is i am going to call animal control because he didnt remove his dog as promised and it is locked in a kennel in a garage because the renters are afrade to let it out.

Just think of it like any other pet. We all place a value on our pets, and when tragedy happens we each have our own threshold of what we can financially tolerate. Yes, civil courts will award a vet bill that is higher than the monetary value of a pet. Courts have recognized that pets have intrinsic value. The dog owner put himself at risk for unlimited expense when he chose to harbor the dog and not ensure his containment. I think that it is admirable that the OP is getting treatment for the duck.

Cancer treatment for a dog is easily $1700. I can't think of anything for a duck that would cost that much. Now $170 I can understand...

I believe the OP said amputation and other surgeries had to be done (unfortunately, that thread was troll infested and had to be deleted). Add that to the possibility that it may have been an after hours emergency visit for the initial surgery. Some areas have much higher vet costs than others. Many people don't have lower cost farm vets available. City vets are often much higher.

yes all we have is 1 vet around here that treats birds. it was 406.00 for her first appt.

dont have the bill for the amputation yet. she is there right now. vet said we get charged per min. that she is on the table getting work done and said it would be around 1300.00. believe me if i could knock her out and do it myself i would! i dont have very much money. i almost poohed myself over the first bill. i thought the hole treatment wouldnt top 400.00
