I have a Mallard hen and drake. My drake is kind of aggressive so I decided to get a few new ducklings to try to get a better ratio. I ended up getting three from my local TSC. At around three weeks, one by one they all started to make noises that sounded like quacking. But now, they're eight weeks and their noises have changed. I'm really confused and any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Duck 1. I think this one is a drake. It's the biggest and sounds the most like my drake.

Duck 2. This one is the smallest of the three but is more brightly colored like the one I think is a drake. In the second & third photo, it's the duck in the front.

Duck 3. This one is the darkest of the three and is medium sized. It seems the most feminine but it has olive on it's bill and I read Cayuga hens should have black bills

Here's the olive on her? bill

If they are quacking do they sound like a duck (loud) or is it a throaty, raspy, quiet sound? loud is girl, raspy is boy. if they are 8 weeks it is too soon to tell by feathers. If they develop a curly tail feather they are boys. if not they are girls.

I have cayugas and their bills change colour very subtly throughout the year. My ducks and drakes bills are both sometimes olive and sometimes black. You can't sex them by bill colour. They are also fairly quiet as ducks go. Females have a loud quack but don't quack very often and drakes are still peeping and squeaking at 8 weeks. I have 3 seven week old at the mo. One is quacking the other 2 are still squeaking so are obviously males. I have Welsh harlequin ducks as well and they are a lot louder and more vocal than the cayugas. Ideally you need at least three females to a drake or they will be squabbling over the females when they mature. They're my favourite ducks though. Well worth having. :)
