I have 4 rouens and 2 Pekins all coming to 6-7 weeks old. I have only heard one quack and the rest peep and or make a low scratchy noise. The rouens have a green tint to their head. I think I have mostly males! I'm new to ducks so was hoping if I posted photos someone maybe able to help!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to BYC!!

Aww....they are just adorable! I don't know anything about ducks other than how cute they are and I love the quacking!!

You will want to post this pic in our Ducks section for more info from out Duck experts....

Enjoy these cutie pies and welcome to our flock!

Ahhhh whoops didn't realize I was in the chicken section. Clearly I'm new to this lol. I'll eventually get some chickens and post here :)

That's fine - we frequently have people asking about ducks, geese, quail, guineas, emu, peacocks and so on. New members are welcome regardless of what they have or even if they don't have anything. They come here asking and we direct them to the right forum or articles.

I love watching ducks - we had a wild mallard threesome some years ago and really enjoyed them until they decided to move on.

The female would perch outside our picture window and walk the sill back and forth to see what was going on inside. They would also wait on the door stoop for handouts and a refill of water.

Welcome to BYC. First picture - two drakes and a duck. Second picture is a duck. On the Pekins - not about to guess just by pictures. Soon the drakes will be developing 'drake curls' and the Rouen drakes will molt into their nuptial plumage - then it will be very evident which are drakes and which are hens.

Thank you! But how can you tell whose the drake and whose he duck?

That's good to know. I thought it was the opposite tho with bill colors!
