Need Help! Sick Dominique (with Pictures!)

No don't give him corid it for treating coccidiosis which is a internal paresite its not going to help him as I'm pretty sure as I did some resherch for you I have unlimited plan with just answer and you can speak with bird specalist vets online and from what you're describing he seems to think this is some kind of infection and depending on what kind of bacteria are involved it can cause seizures for sure. If you aren't able to buy one of the antibiotics I mentioned friday is not to far away as long as you keep him warm but not as to cause a temperature and constantly a least every half hour give him a few syringes of water mixed with pedialite also try to get him the meal worms as they will really help they saved many of my sick birds because of the intense energy they get from them the protien alone is almost 50% and birds go crazy for them this could buy you some time I think there only about 7dollars a bag at walmart also keep cheaking his temp often. And don't buy anything at the feed store other then the antibiotics I mentioned they are not very potent and may do more harm than good sadly people working at feed stores no almost nothing about chickens good luck let me know how he is poor guy he's very beautiful.

Hi I just saw his picture he's not looking good at all is he lying on his side a lot? All I can say is he looks like he needs an antibiotic asap and may not be able to waite any longer I know how hard this is for you but try to get him something soon and keep feeding and watering him as for his poop this indicates an digestive tract infection baytril whould be another good broad spectrum antibiotic to look for if you can get it update me on his condition also try to offer him some greek yougurt as it also has high protien

We may be able to get him some amoxicillan tomorrow!!! I can get the mealworms from work (I work at petsmart!) I have been giving him plain greek yogurt since last night. and ate some mixed with feed this morning. But he refuses to eat anything now. Still using a syringe with the electrolytes. He seemed to perk up for a few minutes and his temp jumped to 107.6, but hes holding on!

Excellent the amoxicillan is a great choice! That should really work well get that for him as fast as you can as he's getting to the point of developing a fever now I am 100% sure this is an infection amoxicillan is a pretty broad spectrum antibiotic so for sure a good pick. Tell me did you recently have some sort of resperatory infection that you noticed going through your flock? As this seam as though he could have a secondary bacterial infection the main culprit in most cases is ecoli and not as often samonella.did you notice him snezzing before he got really sick? He's right looks like a cocerel not fully mature yet? Oh keep giving yougurt at least eating something keep me posted you're doing great!

No sneezing, coughing, or anything from anyone. He is only 4 and a half months old, hes a rose comb Dominique- so his comb will never be big. Hes getting more vocal, but still laying down. It almost sounds like hes in pain I really hope he pulls through this. Temperature is still climbing, 107.8. Is there anything else I can do for the fever?

Don't know at this point what to do for his fever still waiting for an answer from a vet,but for now, I whould keep him hydrated by giving him liquids as much as possible you can crush and then dissolve one aspirin in one gallon of water then start giving him that for pain but I'm not sure how you whould reduce his fever because motrin or tylenol is toxic to birds also enything with cain in it will kill them. I am going to say don't use anything other than asprin on him and keep checking his temp, keep me updated

Dom passed early this morning :( He seemed to be getting better, moving around more, making chirpping noises and then all of a sudden he flipped on his side and wouldn't move. His breathing slowed and then he was gone. The kids and I are making a headstone for him today :( I am going to be getting some other antibiotics JUST in case this ever happens again on Friday. Keeping a close eye on the other birds to make sure no one is following his footsteps! Thank you Chickenstar for your help!
