I've got 5wk old chicks I need to sex. They're getting too crowded now (pecking each other), and I have a home for as many cockerels as I want to rehome. I know it's early but I really need to downsize this group. I've got 18 left. This is my first time raising chickens. There are several who already have larger combs which are turning pinkish red, and I can see wattles as well. Is this a good indicator? I can put up pics of the more feathered out ones if it will help. Thanks in advance!

In order to sex your chicks, we need some photos, preferably of each chick individually with a good shot of the comb.

I'll start working on those right now. May take a little. Thanks!

No problem :)

Here are some pics. My Internet connection is not great, so I'll have to do them in a few separate posts.

And the last one. Both pics are of the same chick. He or she is really aggressive to the others.

these are the only two that are really pinging my roo-dar so far. But it's early days, especially for some of those rose combed birds.
