EDIT: Okay now that I know yellow wire is useless. New question! On the adapter, one wire is solid black but the other has white striping like you'd see in the middle of a road. I tried both for the red and black wires. Both seem to move the fan fine. But which way does it really go? When I googled it someone said the white striped one is Negative but so is black. So would I wire + (red) to the solid black and - (black) to the striped wire? I'm not the best at this and would rather not burn my house down.

I only have a few days to either figure this out or order a different one ><

The wiring should be
red +12vdc
black -12vdc
other color is a control, measures speed of the fan.

the red and black are standard, but some fans have instead of a speed indicator a built in thermistor. That is unlikely, as it is expensive. In either case, you won't be using it.
