I need help on the gender and breed for my new chicken. My friend got new chicks this year from a local farmer. About 2 weeks ago all of them had started to lay except for this one. So my friend thinks that he is a rooster. They asked me if I wanted him before they got rid of him. When I went to check him out I thought he looked more like a hen then a rooster so I took him home. She is now about 20-21 week old and still no eggs. So I am starting to think that maybe I might have a new rooster. What do you guys think? Also any idea on breed?

Hi Aapomp831, she definitely squats when I reach for her. Also yes I do have other chickens. I have one mixed hen named Dinner. 3 Buff Orphington hens named Deeoeo, Ember, and Serengeti. 3 Red star hens named Henrietta, Pollo, and Assasina. 1 Welbar hen named Miss Moa. I also have 1 mixed rooster named Eggbert. So she is not alone. We are thinking of naming her Turkey because of a family joke. I am happy to hear that she is a Easter Egger hen maybe I will get some pretty blue eggs from her to brighten my egg basket. Thanks for the help everyone! I guess I’ll just buckle down and wait until she decides to bless us with her eggs.

Wow, she has lots of friends!! She will get the idea from all of her flock mates. You’ll surely get those beautiful blue eggs soon!
