Every now and then we find one of our young birds dead for no apparent reason. Under the nesting boxes or out in the yard or even at the bottom of the roosting area. I don't think it's a disease they are not really beat up. Anyone have any theories or same thing. When I made last order they filled in with rooms could that be it? Thanks

How many per year/month/day?

We lose pullets on the point of lay every once in a while. Maybe one every other year. I usually figure that there was something wrong internally that was stressed by puberty.

That's a lot of dead birds. I second the necropsy. Contact your state veterinarian, or if you have a university near you, contact the vet school. Your local vet probably doesn't know anything about birds, even if they are large-animal or production animal specialists.
