I have a flock of around 18 hens (mixed and BCMarans). For over a year now, there will be an occasional hen (i happens about every 2-3 months) that will all of a sudden go down on her legs. For a few days, she would wobble a bit and then she will just lay on her side and when she tries to exert herself, she cannot stand up but will move her legs laying on her side. She will keep her appetite okay, but will continue to lose weight and then I have to cull her. I thought it was worms and started putting wormer liquid in the water according to the directions, but two hens have been crippled since that time.

Do you think it may be the GMO's from the layer feed or scratch??? (I cannot afford organic, although I am starting to grow organic vegetables and plan to grown grains for them during the summer)

Probably Marek's, I would get a necropsy done on the next one. If you live in the US, many States do them for free or a small fee. Were your birds vaccinated for Marek's?

FYI, if you're worming with Wazine (piperazine), it only gets roundworms.

This seems to cover most of the symptoms - thanks so much!
It seems to be limited to the Marans, so I will cull out that breed, it guess.
Thanks for the quick response, it really helps!

You now have Marek's in your flock and all of your birds have been exposed. Culling will not stop the spread to other birds.
