I have a mother duck with only one baby. The baby was sick so I had to bring her in the house for a week. I put her back yesterday, but now the mother seems to be attacking it. Like she keeps picking it up by the chest area. And it looks like she's pecking at it. But the baby still continue to follow it's mother. I know mother ducks sometimes kill their babies if they are sick, ?but would she do that if there is only one baby? This is her first baby also. Should I remove the baby again? I'm so worried she is going to kill the baby. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Mother duck may not recognize this ducklings as hers. One of my Muscovy ducks wanted to sleep in the house where a mama duck and 1 duckling have been staying, Mama duck is weaning her duckling he's 8 weeks old and I heard the duckling making distress calls so went to look and the other duck was pecking the dickens out of him, so out she went back with her sisters. I would be very worried that this mother doesn't see this as her duckling and my cause serious injury or death to this duckling. especially at such a young age they really can't defend themselves.
