Need help with LG incubator temp.

I have 41 eggs in the incubator , with two thermometers , and both of them are giving me a different reading . The one that I think is more accurate is the one that came with the LG egg turner that you just set on top of the eggs I am trying to keep this one reading 100. The other one that I'm using is a digital , it reads 103-104 while the other is reading 100. I have this one laying in between the eggs on top of the turner. Am I making the right decision by trusting the LG one ? What would you do in this situation ? BTW we are on the 8th day of incubation. Thanks for any help in advance !!

I always went by my Lg thermometer and had no problems and my hatches were on time. Im not to keen on digital. Just my 2 cents. Let me know how it goes.

First of all, you need to get rid of that thermometer that came with the LG. Its crap. I went to Walmart and got two digital thermometers and humidity combo and put those in. One I put on top of a cut off egg carton which put it level with the eggsl, the other I put ontop of the eggs since it was smaller and the eggs were in the egg carton so they didnt move. The one on the egg carton lid read two degrees higher than the one on the eggs but I figured that was because it was right under the heating elements. I also bought this little device that was right on the same rack as the digitals that just reads humidity and put that in also on the bottom of the incubator. Between the three of them I had a pretty good idea what the temps and humidity was. If your temps on the digital is reading 104 you need to back it down until it reads 101 for still air, according to many on here who have had many more hatches than you or I have and thanks to them Ive had several successful hatches following thier advice. I also have an LG and had a few successful hatches in them with a few temp adjustments not of my doing, but then again........a few were when I panicked and screwed with that touchy adjuster. Right now I have a Hovabator that I have my last hatch in that I had to move from the LG because I panicked and screwed up the temps and it spiked to 108. I just looked and four of the twelve eggs are pipping so I guess I didnt kill all of them!<whew> Hope you have a good hatch and Im sure you can find many on here who are more than willing to help you have a successful hatch also!!

I am having just about the same problem - the 2 LG thermometers are within .5* of each other at 99.5* & 100*... but the digitals are all over the board?? One reads 102* and the other 99.1, but I have my own post so I won't hijack, LOL.

The lg thermometers can be way off or completely accurate--they're set on paper backing and if it's set on there a little high or low your hatch can be toast. I got a digital one with a probe and a regular one to set on top of the eggs, they both read the same so I felt ok about my temp.--trying to keep it there with the lg was a bit more of a challenge--touchy, touchy, touchy!

Not to be contradictory but the three LG thermometers that we have that came with the turners all read dead on. We also have two digital therm/hygrom set ups. We bought a cheap people version digital oral thermometer at the local grocery store. The people versions have to be certified to +/- 0.2 degrees. It cost us about $4 and every so often we place it through one of the holes in the top of the bator to do a quick accuracy check. Always comes up dead on with our cheap LG thermometers.

Hi, i'm a newbie too, but i have an LG also and am using both the thermometer that came with it and a digital one for both temp and humidity, the diigtal one stays steady at 102, and the one that came with the LG reads 99.5, i figure between the 2 of them i am staying in the range i should be, but this is my first hatch too, so we will see, today is day 5 for me, wanna be a hatching buddy?

Well after thinking about it some more the only other thermometer that I had in the house was a meat thermometer. I stuck it in one of the holes and it was reading 104 where the LG was only reading 100. so I guess that this batch will be a total loss.
