Need help with lock down! :) duck egg

Haha, yes, he certainly looks like a "she"!! But he has green sheen all over his head stripe and he's getting green around his eyes and mouth.. so I'm assuming that means a boy?? He is 14 weeks old and one day :) and his voice has changed to a hoarse sort of sound, and he no longer quacks at all. He's gotten a lot quieter. I'll try to find a picture of the green :)

Ahhh. So he makes the soft raspy sound and not an actual quack? That's a boy sound for sure. Girl ducks make loud quacks, but the drakes just make that quiet rasp. Their vocal chords are different.

He makes a very soft raspy sound that sounds like he has a sore throat! Yes :) When will he get his adult coloring?

I'm not sure. I've never had mallards just seen them and pics of them. I have Khaki Campbells and Anconas.

I got curious so I just went looking around on google. It seems that mallards will molt and get their adult coloring anywhere from 4-12 months of age.

Ok, so he has a little while to go :) thank you! Not sure if you'll be able to tell in this pic, but there's a green sheen in his head stripe...

Yeah I can see the pretty green shimmer. He sure is a pretty boy, and he looks so snug and happy in that pic.

The khakis (Agron and Nasir) as youngsters (both females).

The anconas (Scooter and Hershey, both boys) as youngsters.

All grown up.

And some ducklings from the above 4 ducks that were hatched and raised by the bantam hen in the pic. They are pretty big now, but I haven't gotten any recent pics of them yet.
