I say he got on the 8th floor and there are 16 floors...but I'm wondering if the Ground floor is considered the ground floor or the first floor...tricky tricky tricky...

I'm curious to see the answer myself!!
 
From judging the floors given, I am guessing around 11 floors but you can stop somewhere between fifth and sixth floor.
 
He gets on at point A goes up four, down three and up one, arriving where he started. Then down 9....... middle floor is 9, the building has 18 floos

He left the building on the first floor, he got on the elevator at the middle floor.
